SOA, CAS Announce Plan For Reducing Travel Time

CHICAGO – In a joint press release, SOA and CAS have announced a plan for reducing the travel time to Fellowship. Starting May 2008, a new “Express Exam” system will go into effect. The number of questions in each exam will remain the same but the candidates will be expected to write twice as fast. The exams will be graded on the spot by the proctors and results will be announced immediately. Those who fail will be allowed to sit for the exam again after twenty minutes. Those who pass will also be allowed to sit for the next exam in twenty minutes.
According to Moss Dellos, FSA, FCAS, this is was the most brilliant idea in years to occur to the EandE committees of SOA and CAS. “This way,” Dellos said, “you don’t have to wait until you are a grandparent to become a Fellow.”
Since the exam fees will remain the same, SOA and CAS will be able collect every few hours what they collect now in six months. Professors who offer seminars are very excited about this idea.  One of the professors who would only identify himself as George Vashington said, “Oh, this is great! I plan to rent space across the exam site and give 18-minute seminars over the internet. I will review all the formulas at a very fast rate of speed and also describe the latest shortcuts.”
Opinion amongst students is divided. Some – especially the younger ones – think it is great. Ben Awan, 19, a sophomore at Bawl State said, “Oh, this is great! You know, like, an exam every three or four hours, wow, like man, I can be an FSA in three days. And then, man, like another three days, I can be, like, a FACS or whatever, like man, I will be rolling in money in a week, like, wow man, do you know how many beers I can drink on that!”
The older ones are a bit skeptical.  Geri Triac, 82, has been taking exams for a long time but is not sure how many credits she has towards Exam M or Exam 3. “Cut down the travel time?” she asked, “Why don’t they run an express shuttle, then?” After a thoughtful pause she added,
“ Perhaps they should just move the station closer.”
