The best lifetime distribution is, of course, the exponential distribution. Why? Because… Well, really, when I was born, our family astrologer said my lifetime was exponentially distributed with mean 100. I am 100 now. So I can expect to live another 100 years. When I get to be 200 years old, I can expect to live another 100. And then I will forget how old I am. Just look around you. All these people are old!

There are many Stats you don't need. For example you don't need a rheostat. You do need some Stat. If the weather is real bad you may need a thermostat.
